Capability Narrative
There is a problem in the workforce known as the soft skills gap. Studies show that many individuals have the technical hard skills (i.e. in STEM, automotive repairs, marketing, and accounting) yet lack the non-technical soft skills (i.e. effective communication, leadership, teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking) necessary to help a business succeed. Today’s employers, however, require their workforce to have soft skills as much as they have technical hard skills. We, at Soft Skills Zone, LLC spend our time investing in people to close the soft skills gap.

Our training program is designed for managers, employees, small business owners, and job seekers alike. We offer online and instructor led courses in team building, communication, DISC profiles, leadership, conflict resolution, and other soft skills courses. We provide online DISC assessments for adults, teens, and youth. Some of our online training and assessments are available in Spanish and French. We also provide consultancy services to address your human capital concerns.

We are a veteran owned, woman owned, minority owned, small business enterprise that offer solutions to commercial and government organizations so as to develop well-rounded individuals in a cross generational workforce with traditionalists, baby boomers, Gen Xers, and millennials.

About Me
By vocation, Emma Reynolds-Middleton has over 25 years’ experience working in finance, budgeting, program administration, workforce development, quality assurance, and leadership primarily in state and federal government. During this time, she has led teams in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves as a Finance Officer for 10 years in South Korea, Kansas, South Carolina, and in Georgia. For nearly three years, Emma worked in the construction industry tracking construction projects and gathering pre-bid construction data from architects, engineers, general contractors, private owners, developers, constructions managers, and public entities in Lower Hudson Valley, New York. Her professional expertise spans both government and private sectors.

At the same time, community engagement and teaching has always been Emma’s passion. She has taught soft skills classes (in communication, self-esteem, and financial literacy) to elementary through high school students and has also taught young adults and adults (in communication, leadership, team building, and other soft skills) at various non-profit organizations.

In the spring term of 2016, Emma joined Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) Georgia, in the School of Professional and Applied Psychology, the Organizational Development and Leadership Graduate Program as an Adjunct Faculty teaching the Team Dynamics course and the Communication for Leaders course to graduate students.

Emma formally formed her business, Soft Skills Zone, LLC, in April 2018 with sights on retirement (which she did). Soft Skills Zone, LLC was birth out of training and volunteer work she was already doing in the community for 20 years. Her journey is one from passion to purpose.

Emma is a Certified Human Behavioral Studies and DISC Personality Profile Trainer and Consultant, a Certified Managerial Coach, and she has served as a speaker and presenter during conferences and at women’s retreats. Emma is also an elder at her church in Duluth, GA,

She received her Bachelors of Business Administration from Florida International University (in Miami, FL.), her Master of Arts in Business from Webster University (in Saint Louis, MO.), and her Doctorate of Christian Leadership from Kingdom Covenant Leadership Institute (KCLI) in Duluth, GA.

Emma served on the Board of Directors for the Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services, and she served on the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Atlanta Board of Directors as the Membership-Retention chairwoman.

Emma describes herself as a servant leader. She seeks to serve others by providing training and consultancy work on interpersonal and employability skills to transform people into well rounded individuals both personally and professionally. Emma is passionate about closing soft skills gaps so that individuals can be their best selves’ every day and in every sphere of influence.
