The 8(a) Business Development Program is a business assistance program to aid small disadvantaged businesses to grow in government contracting. The 8(a) Program is used to assist socially and economically disadvantaged entrepreneurs gain access to million dollar contracts. Participation in the 8(a) program is divided into 2 phases over nine years: a 4-year developmental stage and 5 year transition stage.
